Ian Haslam

PT, DPT, Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Haslam comes from a diverse clinical background with experience in home health care, outpatient neurological rehab, vestibular rehab(VRT), sports rehab, and outpatient orthopedics.

Dr. Haslam is a graduate of Drexel University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Prior to his graduation from Drexel, Dr. Haslam worked as a personal trainer after receiving his Bachelors in Exercise Science from West Chester University where he graduated with honors. During his time personal training he worked with basketball players and recreational athletes.

Dr. Haslam’s passion for Physical Therapy arose from assisting his father throughout the years who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS). He noticed the positive effect Physical Therapy had on his father’s life every time he had a hospitalization or a flare-up of his MS which helped him get back to his prior level of function. He also noted the dramatic impact Physical Therapy had on his own life when he was dealing with either injuries from basketball or the gym. He saw the influence physical therapy can have on people’s lives and how physical therapists really get to know patients while seeing them achieve their goals.

Through his life experience and assisting his father, Dr. Haslam has realized that in order to help patients get better and be able to do the things they want to do they must challenge themselves and be challenged which is what both his dizzy patients and high-level athletes need. To do this he gives his patients the right challenges they need, when they need it, to improve and feel better quickly. He inspires patients to achieve things they might not think were possible and they come away with less pain, improved function, and knowledge they can utilize to continue to improve on their own. Dr. Haslam believes that an exceptional physical therapy experience must include individualized one-to-one attention, compassion, communication, education, expertise, and trust; which are all tenets of how Dr. Haslam chooses to practice.

During his time at Drexel, Dr. Haslam worked on a research project which focused on how to better understand chronic pain, its effect on the body, and best practice for treating individuals with this condition to which he has experience with. While also at Drexel, Dr. Haslam recognized his special interest in treating patients with dizziness/vestibular conditions, balance problems, and neurologic conditions and gained valuable experience treating these conditions when he rotated at St. Luke’s specialty outpatient neurological rehab in Bethlehem to which he specializes in treating these types of patients today along with treating sports/orthopedic conditions.

For patients suffering from dizziness, whether acute or chronic, Dr. Haslam’s experience is unparalleled. He has treated patients that have been to the University of Pennsylvania’s Balance Center for dizziness, particularly 3PD/PPPD/Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness of which Dr. Haslam has years of experience treating, in addition to Vestibular Migraine.

When not treating patients, you can catch Dr. Haslam pulling up for a jumpshot in an intense game of basketball, weight-lifting in the gym, setting his fastest lap times on the Monaco Grand Prix track sim-racing, spending time with loved ones, planning the next adventure with his wife, and continuously learning more so he can best serve his patients.
